a canalside walk from dudley(ish) to wombourne
Although this page is on a church website, and I’m a Vicar, this is not a St George’s event. Neither am I a trained walking guide or anything of that nature. But I do like walking, and love good conversation, and having done a few of these I know that those who come along really enjoy them.
The Walk
The plan is to start by 10am, parking on Cressett Avenue, DY5, 3XY. The route is a 16-km canal-side walk. We have a table booked at The Round Oak Inn in Wombourne for 3pm. You will need appropriate footwear, clothes and supplies (e.g. plenty of water). There may be no toilet facilities along the way, though there will be bushes…. If the weather is abysmal we will cancel but otherwise “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.” Much of the walk will be unshaded so hats, sunscreen and lots of water will be vital.
We will need to do some car-shuffling, so most people will need to meet in Wombourne about 9.30am so we can then drive to the start of the walk. Let me know in the Google Form how you can help.
the conversation
You might be a Christian. You might not be. Hopefully we agree that Christianity is quite influential and worthy of discussion! You may be a Wang - a member of The Rest Is History club. Whoever you are, expect to meet people you don’t know who will hold varied and different viewpoints. This is all part of the fun!
